San Luis Peak
On Sunday, Joni, Matt and I climbed 14,014 foot San Luis Peak. It was a 13.5 mile hike with 3,600 feet of elevation gain. We hiked up the Stewart Creek Valley and climbed in the sunshine out of the valley to a 13,000 foot ridge . From there we climbed to the top. There were views of the San Juan mountains in all directions, mottled by the shadows of clouds. By the time we descended back to the ridge, sleet and snow was falling. Descending into the valley, we heard thunder. We really did summit just at the right time. It was beautiful, but I am still recovering.
