The Matterhorn

The Matterhorn

On our last day of hiking, we took a hotel shuttle from Herbriggen up the valley to Zermatt, which is a large tourist town full of shops, attractions, and visitors. The Matterhorn towers over the town. From the town, we took the underground funicular steeply up to Sunnegga. From there, we hiked to Stellisee lake where we admired the famous view of the Matterhorn reflected in the lake. It was a beautiful day and we had great views of a number of high peaks. The wildflowers were beautiful. I had a great lunch of a beer and rösti with a brat on top and a fine apple strudel for dessert at the restaurant in Sunnegga at the top of the funicular. We had a tremendous view of the Matterhorn as we ate.
