Routeburn Track, Day Three
On the final day, we hiked for seven and one half miles under broken clouds, following the contours, which allowed us to stay near treeline for much of the morning, providing for very nice views. We descended into the forest past Earland Falls and down to the Lake Howden Hut. Near the hut, some of us climbed quickly on a side trail to Key Summit where there were views of the mountains covered by the broken clouds. From the trailhead, we took a shuttle to Te Anau where we had a great pizza dinner at a real Italian pizzeria. We caught another shuttle to Queenstown. The next morning we flew from Queenstown to Auckland.
