Queenstown

Queenstown

The following day, we had a day off in Queenstown with no planned activities.  I walked around town and up the Hillside Trail to a point overlooking the town and Lake Wakatipu. In the evening, some of us rode a gondola up to a scenic high spot with a restaurant and theater.  In the theater, we watched a Maori Haka which is a traditional greeting ceremony.  There were three men and two women with tattoos on their faces.  The performance combined song and dance and was very musical. Afterwards, we ate at a large buffet with lamb, seafood and many other dishes. We ate in front of large windows with expansive views of the mountains and lake far below.
