Lost Creek Again
Over the Memorial Day weekend, I led five people on the twenty-three mile Hankins Pass – Goose Creek loop in the Lost Creek Wilderness area. It was my fourth time backpacking this loop. There was a 4,000 foot ascent the first day and a great deal of up and down on the following two days. The group was very strong and well-prepared. The trip lead us into the fantastic granite world of the upper Lost Creek valley, with its mad conglomeration of enormous stone domes, walls, fins and many other unclassifiable types of fractured formations. We had great weather and, like others I have led on this trip, all were amazed by the spectacular landscapes.
