Bear Peak
Today, on a furlough day from work, I climbed Bear Peak southwest of Boulder. It was a very warm day that felt like summer. Normally, at the end of March, this trail is covered with snow and ice. Today, there was barely a trace of snow. The climb involves gaining over 2,000 feet of elevation and all three approaches are steep. I climbed up rugged Shadow Canyon and down equally rugged Fern Canyon which resulted in a long loop hike. Near the end of the hike there were Sand Lillies along the trail.
