The Powderhorn Wilderness is an area known for its exceptionally large areas of alpine tundra, located on expansive plateaus above 12,000 feet in elevation. Last weekend, four of us spent four days on a hiking loop through this wilderness. The trails on the map were practically non-existent, so we had to find our way using map, compass and GPS. During the four days, we saw no one else in the wilderness.
