Robert Louis Stevenson State Park
We spent the night in the charming small town of Calistoga. Early in morning while my mother slept, I went for a hike to Table Rock. As I drove up the mountain, I entered fog, and it remained foggy to the trailhead. I hiked through the dense, wet vegetation unique to the coastal mountains. As I climbed, the fog began to thin and I was soon in bright sunshine and there was not a cloud in the sky above me. At the highpoint overlook, I looked down upon an incredible sea of clouds with islands of mountain tops. I hiked down, back into the clouds to table rocks which is a cliff formation hanging from the mountains. The trail down was rocky and greatly eroded. Eerie rock formations loomed in the fog. I could not see anything of the incredible views and landscape that likely are present at Table Rock.
