Chinchero

Chinchero is a mountain village that combines old Spanish buildings with Inca ruins. We toured the 500 year-old church with its folk-primitive paintings on the ceiling and with more examples of large paintings of the Cusco school, which combine Christian images with subtle Quechua themes. In the plaza, the locals spread out handicrafts on the ground which we haggled over and bought.
