Mohawk Lakes

Mohawk Lakes

Yesterday was a cold June day, and it rained while we were in the forest and snowed quite a bit when we were up high. The Spruce Creek waterfall roared with the snow melt from the previous warm days. Above the lower lake, a part of the group continued across sloping snow fields to the upper lake. I sank deep into the snow and had to work hard to get my foot out of the dense snow. After that, I turned back and did not continue to the upper lake. The others arrived at the lake in the fog. I found bright yellow, Alpine Avens flowers growing between patches of snow.
