Rising Water

Rising Water

On Thursday, we started our hike in sunshine which glittered off the thin layer of snow and ice that enhanced the beauty of the canyon landscape. We stopped for lunch at the Split Level Ruins which is a substantial complex. After lunch, the sky turned black and there was a thunder clap, followed by a blizzard of grapple, as large as corn puffs. The grapple turned into a steady snow storm. As the snow continued, the water in the stream rose and crossing became increasingly difficult. We camped at Todie Canyon with a thin layer of snow and on damp ground.
