On a beautiful Saturday, we hiked steeply out of the basin towards Hurricane Pass. We first climbed to emerald-green Sunset Lake and then to the pass. On the way, some of the south-facing areas along streams contained intensely colored stands of wildflowers. After a steady climb, we reached Hurricane Pass which was large and gently sloping. On the pass, the Grand Teton and its two sisters towered above us. We were as close to the great mountain as we would get.
