We rode from Trinity Creek a short distance to Monument Creek. There we did a wonderful loop hike starting up a crystalline metamorphic slot canyon It was a wet canyon with smooth, slanting rock surfaces. We eventually climbed out of the slot canyon and onto the desert slopes above. We saw small larkspur and other flowers. We climbed over two saddles with fine views of the south rim and distant and not so distant butte temples. The temples we could see included the Temple of Ra, the Temple of Osiris and the Tower of Set. Down in the Hermit Creek, the vegetation was greener with wax current bushes.
