Plant Life
When we hiked into narrow Saddle Canyon, we found a lush green environment with numerous riparian trees and shrubs, including cottonwoods, box elder, ash, redbud, and barberry. The botanical highlights of the canyon were golden columbine and crimson monkey flowers. On the desert hikes we found a variety of cactus along with yellow flowered brittlebush, prince’s plume, globe mallow, mohave indigo, larkspur and other flowers of yellow and purple. Everywhere the prickly pear cactus were in bloom.
