Capri

We took the ferry to Capri and the funicular from the marina to the main part of the town of Capri. We hiked from town up to the ruins of Villa Jovis, one of the villas of the Emperor Tiberius on Capri. We descended to a natural arch with views through it to the strikingly blue-green sea. We got close to the Faraglioni, the vertical rocks rising from the sea at the tip of Capri, another visual theme, which we spotted from hikes throughout our stay in Italy. We descended past exclusive homes with high walls and through the busy shopping district to a café on the beach at Marina Piccolo and watched the heavy waves break against the sea wall. Back in the Centro of Capri, we found refuge from a rain storm in another café.
